We are a team consisting of lactation consultants and perinatal & neonatal nurses that want to provide a comprehensive prenatal, postnatal and breastfeeding class to families delivering at Royal Columbian Hospital.
The Nest Prenatal Goal:
To prepare families for the birth of their babies, post-birth and breastfeeding.
To provide expectant mothers with evidence-based information along with best practice information
I became an RN in 1996. I worked for 3 years on a neurosurgical floor. In 2000, I completed my Perinatal Specialty and began working in labour and delivery and postpartum.
In 2005, I began instructing clinical groups of perinatal specialty nurses, in labour and delivery. I also worked in the antepartum clinic with patients who were experiencing pregnancies which required closer monitoring. In 2014, I began working as a clinical nurse educator in the Perinatal area at RCH. I am passionate about my job and love working with families during the pregnancy, birth and postpartum periods.
I was born and raised in Langley, BC. My husband and I have two children (teens), and a big hairy dog. We love to spend time outdoors. We love to travel and spend time with friends and family.
After obtaining my Nursing Degree in 2010, I quickly discovered my passion for working with families in their childbearing years. I completed my Nursing Speciality in labour and delivery and worked on the maternity unit supporting women during pregnancy, birth and post partum.
After 5 years in hospital, I decided to broaden my knowledge and take a position as a Public Health Nurse. I currently work in the community to support families with infant feeding, child growth and development, maternal mental health and transition to parenting. I also have a special interest in breastfeeding challenges and became a Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2016.
I was born and raised in Vancouver, and currently live in the Tricites with my husband and 2 dogs. I love a good cup of coffee, exploring the Vancouver food scene and traveling with my family.
I am a R.N. and certified lactation consultant. I have been working with families giving birth at Royal Columbian Hospital for 40 years. I have extensive experience in labour and delivery, postpartum, antepartum (involved following vulnerable families through their pregnancy) and I have conducted the hospital tours for families giving birth at Royal Columbian Hospital.
Presently, I am working as a Lactation Consultant for families requiring breastfeeding support.
Working with families has, and continues to be such a rewarding part of my life. I work hard to make sure that families have the information for a realistic and safe start to their new chapter in their lives.
I feel truly priviledged to work with every family that I have the pleasure of working with.
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work with babies. Thankfully, during my nursing degree, I got the chance and I haven’t looked back since! I have been a registered nurse for over 10 years spending the majority of those years in the NICU. I am currently a clinical nurse educator in the NICU and also work as an in-hospital lactation consultant on a casual basis. I have been a certified Lactation Consultant for 7 years now and my passion for breastfeeding education and support has grown immensely over this time. I have worked for a local college for several years educating health care professionals about breastfeeding as well.
My hope for these classes is to help prepare families in making evidence-based decisions on everything related to their labour, delivery and feeding of their baby. Parenting is full of so many decisions and hopefully we can help you feel confident by giving you the education you need and want to help you get started on your parenting journey. I am married to my best friend and we have 2 beautiful boys. My family is my everything- we love to camp, travel, eat, hike, and play board games and sports.
